Hello,
We are a three man team with 4 WinXP Prof PC's and 1 Windows 2000 SBS
(operating a Domain).
I upgraded one WinXP machine to SP2 which "appeared" to be fine. Over the
next couple of days I upgraded the other 3 WinXP machines.
Now I seem to have a problem accessing our Server (\\ATAT) on *some*
machines while logged in as *some* users. I don't have any problem actually
logging on at all (change the pwd on the server and I have to use the new
password to login which then works fine). What I have found is that:
a) On WinXP "CWALSH" logging in as "chris", I cannot go to \\ATAT or access
Exchange via Outlook.
b) Logging into another computer as "chris" is fine
c) Logging into "CWALSH" as another user is fine.
When trying to access \\ATAT I get the "Connecting to ATAT" dlg box which
prompts for my username and password again (the dlg with a silver and gold
key in the corner). Entering my password pops the box up again; entering
another user's credentials returns the error: "... Multiple connections to a
shared resource by the same user, using more than one user name, are not
allowed. ...". This backs up the fact that I did log in correctly in the
first place.
I created a new user on the server ("cw") and am now in the process of
transferring settings across but now another one of my users have had this
"one user/one machine, resource access" problem and I don't know where is it
going to stop!
Should I uninstall WinXP SP2?
Does anyone know why accessing Server resources for certain User/Machine
combinations doesn't work anymore?
Thanks in advance,
BloodBaz.
