I have automatic updates turned on and downloaded and installed an update
this morning. Since then, my Gateway mx6920 laptop will not start up
normally. It loads the bios and then sits in that black windows loading
prompt indeffinitely. I can run in safe mode with network support just fine,
but after shutting down and rebooting it still will not boot normally.

Please help! I am somewhat computer savvy, but cant figure this one out on
my own. One more note... It says that all Win updates support is free, so why
am I being prompted to pay their $59 when I go to seek help? Seems to me that
microsoft would be at fault here and should help me correct the issue free of
charge. I guess it's time to switch OS's as I am increasingly frustrated with
Microsoft's unwillingness to admit they've made a mistake and actually help
their customers out without charging them an arm and a leg. I mean, we
already paid for the software (which isnt cheap) so shouldnt all tech support
be included? Sorry for the diatribe.
