WinXP running slow

Don R.

Ever since installing some of the recent patches that were
made available through Windows Update, my system has been
running slow. Are there any known Update/patch conflicts
with any software programs in Windows XP Home?

I don't know which fix it is specifically, unfortunately.
As for uninstalling any fixes, I'd like to, but I've
always run into major problems not long after doing so in
the past. Once so badly that Windows crashed and was
unrecoverable. Would you happen to know if there are any
known conflicts between any of Window's fixes and any
programs in particular such as Norton's Anti-virus 2003 or
ATI drivers? Thanks.

You have your priorities wrong. You should always install the fixes and worry
about Norton later.

Most computers do not have problems with patches.
A large % of those that do could have been prevented by rebooting just
before installing and disabling unnecessary applications before
installing.
Norton AV works for me, I just disable it before updating.
You could try ATIs website for information about conflicts.

Hi, Remove update # 811493. This update causes Win XP to run very slow.
Use the control panel and add or remove programs to do this.

Not entirely true.
That issue was resolved when that update was reissued a few months
ago.
The current version of that update does not have that issue.
