Hello

Maybe that's a bd memory slot, read what it says
about that slot, your computer manual for your
mother brd.

I would suggest that you contact Aopen as they are more likely able to tell you if it is hardware. It is possible that all you do is update your bios and that may solve the problem. If all else fails just use 1 gig of ram. ( is there any reason that you wanted 1.5 gigs?) Also why did you go to ddr400 as ddr333 is alot more compatible and you are not getting any real extra performance as you only have a 266Mhz FSB on that CPU. Also here is a link to the tested Ram with that Motherboard http://swe.aopen.com.tw/testreport/mb/ListTestItem.asp?TestFunction=519&Model=741 you are going to have to check the hynix ram you got ( be sure to check the IC # on the chips themself)

Just my 2 cents

It is not more compatible, it's just a wast of your money. (But you did get
a better grade of ram)
