winxp problems

I can't get win xp to come up on my computer. When I boot
up I get a blank screen with a cursor flashing in the left
hand cornor. Does anyone have any ideas?
 
Put the XP CD in the CD drive and make sure the BIOS is set to boot from the
CD first. Boot the PC and watch for a prompt on screen "To boot from CD", It
will say "Press any key to boot from CD". Hit a key and don't do a repair
from the recovery console, go by that option and just before a full install
starts you will be given athe option to do a repair install by hitting the R
key.

corrupted video driver or corrupted registry.

try all user accounts and enable vga mode and last known
good configuration and safe mode and safe mode with
command prompt,then go to recovery console and run
chkdsk /r if all that doesnt work try 307545 and if that
fails repair install
