I'm receiving a mbr error message on boot up. Since I'm running ntfs, I
can't run the dos mbr format command.

How do I fix this?

Roger

Boot from the XP CD to the recovery console then you can run the command. If
you don't have the CD you might find the recovery console is already
installed by your oem. If you can't find it at all download the XP floppy
set from microsoft. That definately has it.

Can you boot the computer at all?

If so then open a Command Prompt window (Start - Run - CMD) and enter
the following command:

FIXMBR

If you cannot get the computer to boot then follow Glen's advice about
booting to the Recovery Console or with the Setup disks and then run
the FIXMBR command.

Good luck

I am able to boot up. I have used my bootable cd with xpsp2 and gone into
the recovery console;have done both fixmbr(twice) and fixboot(twice). with
each command was told that new mbr or boot has been written.

However, when I boot up, I'm still seeing "MBR Error3", and the system
continues to boot. No problems that I'm aware of. Just can't get rid of the
error message on boot up.
