Hi. I have new Acer TravelMate C100 laptop, with a built-in Realtek
network card. When I connect to my existing network, it doesn't pick up an
IP address from the router (which of course, has a DHCP server running.)
Other machines on the network have no trouble, although all other machines
are running Win2000.
In the Event Viewer, I get a System Event 1007, indicating that the IP
address was autoconfigured.
If I try using ipconfig /renew from the command line to get a lease it
waits a while, then tells me it couldn't contact the DHCP server.
I have seen other postings like this, with the usual answer being
"install the latest service pack", which I have done, but it hasn't solved
the problem.
I've walked through the XP network setup wizard, and eyeballed the
settings manually and they look OK. Does anyone have any suggestions on how
I might chase this down?
Thanks,
Andy
