winxp host and client ICS not working

Hi!

I tried to find some answer in the newsgroups about this topic, but
all seems to be a little different than my problem. Here it comes:

Internet Connection Sharing doesn't work any longer after reinstall of
op.sys. on host.

Configuration: adsl modem => win xp host => win xp client (laptop)


ipconfig /all on host gives the following:

What is strange here is that the NODE type was broadcast some minutes
ago. After that I reset adsl modem and restarted host.

I hope this can help finding an answer.

Recently I tried deleting the winsock and winsock2 registries. But
that didn't help either.

The node type has no effect on Internet Connection Sharing, but it
does affect file sharing. "Mixed", "Unknown", "Broadcast", and
"Hybrid" are OK. "Peer-to-Peer" isn't OK.

I don't see any sign of Internet Connection Sharing being enabled,
because the host computer's "Hjemmenettverk" connection should have an
IP address of 192.168.0.1 if it is. If you've enabled ICS, disable it
and then re-enable it. If that doesn't solve the problem, it's
possible that the network connection associated with the host's SMC EZ
Card has become corrupted. Remove the card in Device Manager, reboot,
and let the system re-install the card and create a new connection.

Hi again!

Thank you for the reply. I tried some of the instructions you gave me,
and it worked partially. Now, I can see the host from the client in
windows browser, but can't access it. I see the icon of the host in
MyNetworkPlaces->EntireNetwork->MicrosoftWindowsNetwork->Talibov

I cannot see the workgroup from the host at all.

After that I changed the ethernet cables to the host. I get this from
"ipconfig /all":

I believe the client is OK, because I can connect it directly without
problems. I can't ping 192.168.0.1 from the client, but I can ping the
client "192.168.0.3" from the host.
