A WinXp Home computer stopped sending sound to the speaker. I went to ctrl
panel and clicked on the Critical Stop.wav icon, to test for sound, and I got
the following error message:
Windows cannot play the %SystemRoot%\media\Windows Xp Critical
Stop.wav file. The file may be damaged or may use an unrecogniaed
compression format. To resolve this problem, replace the file or use
Add/Remove Programs in Control panel to install Audio Compression.
I don't have any idea what to do, short of reinstalling Windows,
which seems like overkill. If anyone has any suggestions, it will be much
appreciated. Thanks, Marceepoo
