Hello,

I have a biostar motherboard, the computer was hanging at startup (the
windows xp screen) and does not allow login. It would not boot in safe-
mode, etc. It would hang before I could initiate an xp repair using
the winxp cd (hangs at looking for exsiting OS installed), hanged if I
tried to use recovery console, hanged at formatting hard drive using
cd, so I removed the Maxtor hard drive, put it into another computer
(slave) and tested it with seatools (various tests all okay/pass). I
formatted the drive on slaved in another computer, put it back in the
original computer and installed windows fine. I got the drivers for
NIC/Audio/Video from Biostar http://www.biostar-usa.com/mbdownloads.asp?model=M7NCD+PRO
and starting hanging again on some reboots --enough hangs to make it a
problem (no other software installed) except for win updates, spybot
and avast antivirus. Any thoughts? No issues/exclamation marks in
device manager. drivers installed at biostar: NVIDIA_NF2_114_WINXP.EXE
and ALC650_A348_WIN98SEME2KXP.EXE any help would be greatly appreciated

we know two things
1) your harddrive is ok
2) setting up / installing windows is not flawed

therefore it sounds like an
issue affecting your
motherboard.

you might want to visit
the biostar website for
support and or downloadable
solutions.

briefly, however, it would
not be a bad idea to check
out your onboard ram for
starters and ensure your
motherboard acknowledges
it as well.
