When i connect my mp4 player device to the usb port winxp doesn't see it.
Viceversa de device give me the message "connect". But i cannot use it
because no "external drive" is added.

What is the problem?

thanks

Right click on My Computer, select Manage. On the following screen, click
on Disk Management. Does it show up on the right hand side? Can you assign
it a drive letter?

no... windows see no new drivers.

And when i connect the player to usb port i receive no "typical" windows
sound of connected device... but device is connected.

Can
you assign it a drive letter?

no

Does your PC correctly detect other USB devices?

Normally yes... but i get the same problem connecting a mobile.

But all other devices i connect work great.... webcam... usb phone...
printer... etc.

Are you trying to connect all of them at once? If so, it sounds like
insufficient power... each USB port is powered by the PSU on the motherboard
and if the PSU isn't of a sufficient wattage, then it has to decide which
not to power.

I have a similar problem. Windows XP recognizes my 2 GB sandisk memory card
and assigns a drive letter. However when I right click on the device in
explorer it shows the device as "full" and doesn't read the capacity. When I
left click on the device a window arises that says it is not formatted. When
I click on the format now? yes button another window arises that says it
cannot be formatted.

The device manager shows device and says it is working.

My problem was resolved when I connected the flash memory player after
downloading a driver provided by the manufacturer. I'm not sure if the
memory will be recognized if I plug it into my Epson printer/scanner/copier
(which has its own memory card slot). The memory is now in my car loaded to
the gills with good music.

I had a similar problem, and the flash drive was attempting to use a drive mapping that i had already taken with a network drive. so via the manager computer / disk management changed the drive to a unique mapping letter, and hey presto!
