I am using Compaq Presario 900 which has USB hub using Ali chip.
When I plug USB hard drive into the USB, it always warns me -

USB Host working with "USB 1" with mass storage device using "USB 2"

As a result my hard drive access is very slow compared to "USB 2".

Any idea how to update USB Host controller to work with "USB 2" ?
Thank you,
Harris

Do you have SP1 installed? Is your computer hardware & USB hub USB2 or
USB1.1?

You cannot upgrade USB1 ports to USB 2 simply by upgrading a driver. The
Presario 900 series are laptops (and are too old to have come with USB 2
ports as standard) so, unless there is some kind of PCMCIA USB2 card that
will allow you to use a USB2 device, then the answer is simply "you cannot".

Always check for compatibility between system and component before purchase.

Thank you for the reply. I found PCMCIA USB2.0 card from
pricewatch.com.

Compaq Presario seris does NOT come up with USB 2.0 They do
not say it anywhere in specification- which version USB they
got untill I dig enough in the manual.

Thank you all for answering my question.

Isn't that simply dreadful? Fancy having to read a manual with any more
brain power than is required to locomote a garden slug.
