WinXP and Internet Gateway

I think I goofed. I clicked on DISABLE on my Internet
Gateway and now my PCs cannot access the net. I tried to
reenable it but it won't.

I use a Linksys WRT54G router and a cable modem and
everything has worked fine until my blunder. I have reset
the router several times (hardware reset too) reconfig'd
everything, shut everything down, etc. I can see the
internet activity light flashing on the router in sync
with the activity light on the cable modem so it seems
they see each other.

When I disabled that Internet Gateway through WinXP did I
somehow disable the WAN port on the router to some degree?
I've tried everything and cannot get it to reenable. My
cable modem is fine, I have it going directly to a PC and
get out on the net. HELP!!!

(Why would MS put a feature in there that could be so
dangerous?!?!, dumb question, it's MS afterall...)

From looking at these two articles, I am wondering if either
SSDP Discovery Service or Universal Plug and Play Device Host service
were maybe stopped or disabled when you disabled the Internet Gateway
in Network Connections.
You could check this out by right clicking on My Computer and then click
on Manage, then in Computer Management click on the + next to Services
and Applications and then click on Services and look for those two services
in the list and see what there status is and maybe try starting them if they
are
not started. Just a guess... may be completely off the mark.
