Hi. Having problems with my w2k pc. It all started when I uninstalled a few
different free cd writing software apps (had reached their timeouts) and
also ran ad-aware to remove some stuff (don't think that's the prob
tho..seems to be something with the apps uninstall).
Anyway, since then things have stopped working... 1. windows update no
longer works. I have even tried running it directly from the command prompt
in winnt/system32/wupdmgr. When I do that nothing happens. 2. Start/find
files and folders, as well as 'find' text under windows internet explorer
has stopped working...don't even get a text wondow to put in. 3. Norton
LiveUpdate has stopped working...gives and error when I try to start it. I
have uninstalled Norton and reinstalled it but that didn't help..infact made
it worse as now it doesn't let any apps through! So I've had to disable
Norton IS.
All the above look like a virus or something, but I'm almost 100% sure that
isn't it....could the uninstallation of apps corrupt or delete some files
and be causing the above? *ANY* ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks.
