I'm hoping someone can help. I've had WinXP Home edition
since 2003, and recently had to reinstall it (corrupted
search companion, for those in the know). I choose to
apply all the microsoft security updates (I'm religious
about such things) while reinstalling. Turns out I'm SP1
now! And I keep getting update notices that I apply, then
soon afterward, I receive the following MS
message: "Windows File Protection. Files that are
required for Windows to run properly have been replaced
by unrecognized versions. To maintain system stability,
Windows must restore the original version of these files.
Insert your Windows XP Home edition CD-ROM now." So I
blindly follow the advice and after the reboot, I receive
the update notice again, same one (Q815021). This has
been going on now for the last month. Every time I
install the update, I get the message. Every time I
replace the files, I get the update notice. Help!
The world is spinning and I can't get off...
