Has anyone used both? Perhaps switched from one to the other? Why?
Switched to something superior to both?

No, have not tried both - still - fwiw: for Startup management and
monitoring I prefer and use RegRun (Gold), a shareware app from
<www.greatis.com>. Having tried many freeware alternatives, the one
that comes closest to RegRun in features and completeness so far is
WinPatrol. Very nice. So this is what I now recommend to anyone
looking for a free alternative. But as said, I have yet to try
WinSonar.

ps: WinPatrol is already nominated and seconded. Don't think
anyone nominated WinSonar yet.

All the best,

FWIW I use both. WinPatrol I've had for some time, and it works OK. Winsonar
recently added -- it is more comprehensive and has features missing in
WinPatrol (at least in the freeware version). Initially it is rather
intrusive, as it pops up for confirmation whenever a program it has not seen
before is run. The answer would seem to be to have as many programs as
possible running when it is installed (contrary to usual practice) which are
then placed on the safe list. However, once it has settled down it's fine.
One feature I like, accessed through the "tech tools" button, is the ability
to click, repeatedly, on a running process, each click shows the program
causing it to run until the original initiating program is found. There's
also port scanning.

WinSonar includes the runtime files which bloats the DL to
over 2 meg. Since WinPatrol works for me, I haven't tried
WinSonar but I'also interested to hear from anyone who has.

Early on, it had stability problems. :-(
