Have a winsock problem ... computer is linked to
network/broadband OK, but won't access any services (web,
email etc)

ISP says it is a winsock problem

Only msg (on web) is Some software (ActiveX controls) may
be unsafe

Is there any way short of reloading OS and all the
software of sorting this?

Any ideas much appreciated

You can try the repairs listed below in the order listed. Neither one would hurt to
try. I don't put too much credence in what any ISP support says but good luck. The
last link lists some troubleshooting tips to try with ipconfig, ping, and tracert
being the main ones to try. First try putting 207.46.245.222 in your IE address bar.
If it works and shows Microsoft Website you have a dns problem. --- Steve
