winsock error

When my colleague, running 98SE upgraded from IE5.5 to IE6
he lost access to the net. His ISP provider said that his
signal reaches them but his incoming signal is stoped by a
winsock error. His advice was to uninstall IE6 and re-
install IE5.5. This is the main problem because the
add/delete programs won't allow it, manual deletion
is "not allowed" and the self repair doesn't work either.
Any assistance appreciated.

Repairs Winsock 2 settings, caused by buggy or improperly-removed Internet software, that result in loss of Internet access.

Many thanks, I'll get him over to look it up ASAP.

If your winsock drivers are working correctly, the fix can do no harm.
Conversely, if they are not - the driver will be repaired.

Glad to be of help.
