Hi, guys:
I've been experiencing problems opening Internet Explorer (IE). When I click on IE, I received a message telling me that IE has experienced problems and needs to be closed. Yet I still have internet connection. The event viewer is showing the following application error:
"Faulting application iexplore.exe, version 6.0.2800.1106, faulting module winshow.dll, version 1.0.0.1, fault address 0x00009901".
I found some tips to fix over the internet. One website sugguests that I do the followling steps:
1. Start, Run
2. Type CMD
3. Click OK
4. Type the following commands at the prompt and press after each command:
cd "%WinDir%\System"
regsvr32 /u "..\winshow.dll"
Exit
These steps temporarly fix the problem. However, when I restarted my computer the same problem surface again. Other website suggests that I delete the MSupdater.exe from C:\documents & settings\all users\startup menu\programs\startup folder. Does this removes the problem completely?
Can anyone help me? This seems to be a fairly common problem these days. I very much appreciate any help or explanation of the cause of the problem.
