Is there any freeware that can unzip .rar & .zip files?

IZArc is my favorite. It has the "feel" of WinRAR, but has a nice feature or
2 more than WinRAR.

I've tried IZArc and it failed with multipart .rars. Dont' know if the
author has fixed the problem yet. At any rate, ICEOws works perfectly.

No adware, cdware, commercial software, crippleware, demoware,
nagware, shareware, spyware, time-limited software, trialware, viruses
or warez please.

Because Andy Mabbett is stalking me in this group, I have him killfiled.

John,

Thanks for your advice.

I tried ICEOWS due to your recommendation, John, but I must say I was
disappointed. On installation, it took over all archive associations;
the only way you can access its functions is by (yet another) right click
menu item - it doesn't have its own gui, and it uses Explorer to view
contents of archives; it can't rename files within archives; etc. I only
looked at it quickly, but this was enough for me. I removed it just as
quick (and then had to go and re-associate all my archive types!)

For me, Izarc would be perfect if it was able to rename files within
archives, and Filzip would also be perfect if it was more stable. I'm
just waiting to see which one gets the needed improvements first....

Taking over file associations is a bit irresponsible, yes. But I find it
a cheap and cheerful piece of kit that does what it is supposed to with
the minimum of fuss. It's easy enough to get the file associations back
where they should be, but it is a nuisance that one has to. They should
address this.

MinMin,
Sorry it did that, I'd forgotten since it's been a while since I
installed it. However, just run "ICEOws Settings" (a shortcut to it
will have been created on your start menu during installation) and
click on the "Formats" tab. Then press "Unselect all". At this point,
you can select the formats that you DO want the program to handle (in
my case, that's only he RAR format) and then press the "OK" button.
