When I first boot my puter in the AM, my second Hard Disk drive is
apparently not recognized, and does not show in "My Computer". If i
"reboot" an hour or so later, it shows up.
Any one have any suggestions.
Thanks
John

Does the BIOS recognize the drive's presence during the initial boot?
This question must be answered before considering an OS-related issue.

Cant tell for sure, since the screen doesnt let me look at the step by step
boot process. If I go to setup, it does show the hard drive there, with an
auto detect. The system is a Dell 3000, and worked fine till about a week
ago.
Thanks

That would indicate that the BIOS does recognize the hard drive's presence.

Have you asked Dell's Tech Support if this is a known issue?
