WinMe data files to an XP system?

I expect to copy data files from my WinMe sys to a cd for transfer to a new
XP sys. Are there any restrictions affecting file transfers between two
different Windows systems like this? I assume that XP can use or adapt
WinMe data files. And can anyone give me directions to a tip sheet / help
file that would help facilitate this transfer?
