Hi all,

I am hoping to get a some advises to solve folowíng problem with my WinXp. Recently I have descovered that logging into systems takes about more 4 times longer as before. Actually I cannot remember some stuped actions from my side which could couse it. So here is an detailed description of the problem

Symptom
After enter login name and password windows shows "loading user settings" dialog and hangs about 1 min. Then it starts explorer and other stuff, and everythings works as usual.

What I have tried already
1. I've checked already system's and application'S events -> there is no any strange or error message
2. I have checked every autorun section in reester
HKLM->blabla->Run, RunOnce etc
HKCU->blabla->Run, RunOnce etc
they contains only usefull executable files (also checked all loaded apps with task manager, again no strangers
3. I've cheked system with Antivirus (AVP) -> everything o

Total -> I guess there something wrong with userinit.exe, but what ? How fix it

Please any suggestion
Thanks for your hel
Best wishe

Have you looked not just in the startup folder, but run msconfig and take a look at some of the things running in startup. msconfig can be very helpful in finding the culprit of slow startups like this and includes a diagnostic mode as well. Personally, I start with disabling all the items in services and startup, then restart and see if it gets better. If yes, then re enable the appropo items in services, restart and if okay, I know it is in startup. I then enable 1/2 of those, restart, and if ok, enable 1/2 of the remaining, restart, and so on until I have isolated where it is at.
