Winlogon.exe Problem

I'm having a big issue with "Winlogon.exe." It keeps
activating and running at 97-99% (showing in the Task
Manager) for about 3-4 minutes at a time. It slows the
computer down to almost a halt and makes most of the open
programs "Non Responsive." I don't know what triggers it,
but it happens off and on without warning.

The only thing I can think of that happened to the system
was that I installed an Office keyboard from Micro
Innovations when the problem started. Also, at the same
time my Windows Media Player 9 stopped working properly
too. I've reinstalled XP (and SP1) and gotten the Media
Player to work again, but the Winlogon.exe continues to be
a problem.

Any help?
Thanks,
Trip

Hey there,

Hmmm...I've got something for you to try. When you're in
Task Manager, go into "Processes" and right-click on
"winlogon.exe". You'll see a drop-down list with "Set
Priority" shown at the bottom. If you move your mouse over
this, it will display another list with "Realtime", "High",
etc. Check to make sure that "Realtime" is not selected.
If it is, change it to "High" (like mine) or something lower.

Hope this helps.

Mark
