After I open a program [Autodesk VIZ 4] winlogon.exe
starts running and using up system resources. This
continues when Autodeck VIZ 4 is closed. My hard drive
constantly runs and the CPU usage moves between about 20%
and 50% with NO programs open! Under the "processes" tab
in the Task Manager winlogon.exe uses between 20,000K and
about 80,000K. If I restart the system there is no
winlogon.exe problem. It only starts after Autodesk VIZ
is opened and contines thereafter, even when Autodeck VIZ
is closed.
I have 3 computers networked in my home office. Computer
A is the "server", with a shared internet connection, and
is running XP Home. Most of my files are stored on this
computer. Computers B & C are both XP Professional. B &
C are identical systems and also both run Autodesk VIZ
4. Only computer C has the winlogon.exe problem, B
always runs fine. I alway run the windows updates
whenever requested to.
I think the problem may be related to the network because
the mouse arrow flashes into the hour-glass for a split
second, every 3 or 4 seconds, whenever a network drive's
files are open in a window and the mouse is in that
window. This does not happen when the local "C" drive
files are displayed and the mouse is in that window.
Sorry if I was too wordy!
Thanks for any help!!
