Somehow this program has appeared on my HD. It is supposed to fix registry
and system errors. For this $40.00 is asked.

Does anyone have any experience of this software? Is it any good? Would it
be a good idea to buy this?

Peter.

PVR,

Don't use that "product". Remove it right away. See this Google archive & read Jim Byrd's comments. Which include 2 references at Symantec about this.

BTW, there's a lot of opinion that registry "fixers" is not needed.

It *is* hijackware and causes registry problems and system errors!

Check for Hijackware

When all else fails, HijackThis
(http://aumha.net/downloads/hijackthis.zip) is the preferred tool to
use. It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware.

Peter,
Here are two sites I found informative as a newbie:
<http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm>
<http://spybot.safer-networking.de/en/index.html>
Also, look into <http://www.lavasoft.de/>. With their Ad-aware program, you
can set it up to watch for hijacked browsers. And Microsoft had a Beta
Spyware Program earlier this year which would enable you to reset a brower
and other configurations BEFORE you booted the IE, or other browser. It was
very handy until I purged the culprit...
Good Luck.

It's my opinion that anything that appears mysteriously (other than MS
updates) is something that doesn't need to be on my computer. And if it
appears mysteriously AND asks me for money, there is no doubt in my mind that
it belongs in the round file.
