I am using Windows 2000 professional and would like to know if a programme
called Winfix 2005 and associated Winsoftware is legitimate and if it is is
it OK to be used with Windows 2000.

I have no idea but I can tell you that if you scroll through some of the
groups you will find people with complaints about the software eating stuff
that it really shouldn't be eating. If there's something you have a specific
problem with then one of us will help you I'm sure but at this point I'm
reluctant to suggest using products such as these unless they have an undo
feature that can be accessed from outside of the OS.
