I have a copy of Winfaxpro ver 7.5. Since upgrading to broadband
Winfaxpro can mot find the modem. It checks com ports 1 and 2 and
reports back that no modem is connected. Is there a freeware fax
program that will detaect broadband on usb? Thanks in advance.

I had a similar problem with WinFax Lite, but it was not broadband that was
the cause - it was a Windows XP compatibility issue. Are you on Win XP? If
so you may be better ditching WinFax and using Windows' own Fax utility like
I did.

You cannot use broadband for faxing, you must have a serial modem.

You can't fax over broadband. You have to leave the old modem in your
computer and fax over the "regular" phone line.

Here good diagrams of how to do this:

For DSL:

For Cable:

I'm not suggesting that MightyFax is freeware (I know it's shareware),
they just have a good FAQ about this issue.

I

'scuseme, but I thought that you couldn't send faxes using broadband.
I got myself a standalone usb modem such that i could send/receive
faxes.
