I am having problems with accessing WindowsXP, my
broadband helpline says that this is because the
WindowsXP is not accessible although it seems to be
installed in the computer somewhere. There is no icon of
this programme on the desktop and when I try to find it
in RUN, a messages comes up saying that due to an error
the system is closing down and to save any work
immediately.

The broadband helpline says that when this is sorted out
Internet Explorer will automatically be visible.

I hope you can help.

My work e-mail address is (e-mail address removed)

Thanks

Helen, I can't understand what you are talking about. Windows XP is the
operating system, not a program. There will be no icon for XP on the
desktop. The desktop is part of Windows, as well as Internet Explorer is.
Tell us exactly what you are trying to do, and exactly what error messages
you are getting.

Right click Desktop, select Properties, Customise Desktop and tick box
to enable Internet Explorer icon on your desktop.

BTW, Broadband does not require a Dial Up connection on your desktop
like modems. If its a USB device then you just need the USB DSL Modem
drivers installed. If its a Router, then you need your Network card
configured and connected via a UTP cable to the router!
