I want to be 100% sure. After I get all of the downloads
from Microsoft & all of my drivers updated, working right.
How then do I back up everything so that if I should ever
have to reinstall again, I will be ahead of the game and
not have to go through all of this again. Like.. if I just
back up from the windows directory.. does that then
include all of these updates? I would like to make a
carbon copy of my system so that all I would have to do is
put that disk then back in,and have it re-install without
all these headaches and have all the updates.. Thanks in
advance, lynda

Lynda by far the easiest way of producing a 'carbon copy' of your system is
to use third party imaging software such as Symantec drive Image (previously
Powerquest drive image). This actually 'images' the whole drive so, if
anything goes wrong and you ned to reimage back tot he hard drive, you have
a 'perfect' copy of your original system.
Depending upon the size of the data you wish to image you can save the
contents to a set of cd/dvd's. Alternatively, if you have a second hard
drive you can always image it to that.
