Hi!

I have a problem with one of my customer's PCs. The
problem is that his installation suddenly does not accept
any drivers for all kinds of devices such as CD-Rom
drives and USB devices such as Hubs, Keyboards and so on.

I was able to elimitate the possibility of a hardware
failure by using another XP installation on his system.
That worked just fine, wherease his installation had the
same problems with an other PC.

I suspect some sort of driver database problem or
registry issue, but cannot pinpoint the problem.

Any ideas?

.
I have a similiar problem with my USB controller driver
not being loaded in XP, so I can't use any USB devices,
any ideas in how I can work around this or fix it, I am
waiting for a reply from Microsoft.

I have been able to solve my problem in the meantime.
It seems that the cause of the problem was that WindowsXP
had a wrong SystemRoot path entry in the registry. I
fixed that and now the system can find and install
drivers again.
