I am using WindowsXPProfessional and I have been unable
to connect the LexmarkX73 Printer(All in one) I have
downloaded the new drivers, patch, and cleanen from the
Lexmark webb page and still cannot get connected. The USB
Ports are ok. The message I get is that the device
(Printer) is not recognized. Has anyone had this trouble?
I feel it is a software problem. Thanks
.
Hi Bill, I was having a similar problem with the same
lexmark X73 all in one, using Xp Home. I uninstalled
reinstalled a dozen times, called lexmark tech support,
tried everything, downloaded the new XP drivers and
cleaning utility, done it all, still wouldn't work. It
would install and everything would show up in star menu, and
in printer folder ok, but when I would try to print
anything from the computer like from notepad or wordpad it
would put up the lexmark print control panel and it would
just hang there, wouldn't print right away, it would
eventually print the thing but it would be 20 mins. later,
I did finally get mine working o. The Xp drivers still need
some work. What I did to fix mine was, uninstalled
everything, used the lexmark X73 driver clean utility from
their site, then went into C: drive deleted all lexmark
stuff left. Then reinstalled printer with Xp drivers and
it'll ask for the lexmark disk also for some things, then
after its all set up, I'd restart computer, then go into
control panel click on printer and faxes make sure X73
icon is there and a little check mark is right next to the
icon showing it is the default printer and then make sure
its online, then right click on the x73 and select
properties, when it opens select the ports tab, then at the
borrom click on print processor, when it opens change from
lexmark 73 in the left panel to Winprint, then on the right
side panel select RAW, click apply or OK close all that
out, you can always change it back later if this doesn't
work for you. I then went to the RUN command on the start
menu, type in msconfig press enter, then when it comes up
select selective startup button, then go to the startup tab
uncheck anything in there that you don't really need to
have running at startup which is alot of things, click Ok,
it'll tell you to restart computer, when it restarts a
little file thing will come up saying your running in
selective startup mode, press ok. Try to use your printer,
hopefully it works...This worked for mine and is printing
with no problems, there has been alot of people with
lexmark and other type printers having trouble with Xp.
Hope this helps, If not call Lexmark support numbers on
their site..Richard e-mail (e-mail address removed)
