I have had Windows XP on my gateway for over a year now,
was just on it last night and manually powered it down (8
secs on the power button) came back to it this morning
and now it won't load past the WindowsXP screen, the blue
bar is moving and randomly stops for a few seconds on each
pass by, it will just hang here for hours. If I attemp to
boot in safe mode, it loads up the drivers, but about 20
or so drivers in the computer freezes, it freezes on
the "agp440.sys" driver and doesn't do anything. I have
looked at the knowledge base and did what it said to do
with the XP disk and repairing it, only problem is when I
do that, it starts to examine the 40Gb drive I have and
freezes, doesn't search it at all, no progress is made. I
am hoping that someone out there has had this same problem
before and could tell me what to do, its been hopeless
trying to contact gateway because I am not the original
owner of this machine so they cannot help, and thus far
the knowledge base has failed me. PLEASE HELP!
