ok

Heres the situation, ill be as brief as possible, cause ive read some
problems on here and i almost fall asleep.
2 comps (My brothers will be name CompA, Mine will be named CompB)
1 Microsoft mn500 Wireless router on Verizon DSL

CompA is hooked up to the router through an ethernet cable 10/100
CompB is hooked up to the router via the Wireless USB adapter(mn-510 i
believe it is).

I ran network wizard on both comps. I turned file and print sharing on both
comps. I selected what drives and folders i wanted visible on the network. I
turned off all firewalls on both comps, now i have also disabled Microsofts
firewall. Microsoft has software that comes with the router. To get into it
i gotta trick the router to open up the options. (To access the base
management tool in the software i have to release the IP's then renew, then
the option to get into everything becomes available, wtf?????)

Anyways, CompA can see files on CompB throught network neighborhood.
But CompB cant even get into CompA. I get the error. "Insufficient access,
you do not have permission to access this computer" I've check everything.
Im lost. And now recently there is 1 folder that CompA can see but gets the
message "Insufficient access" Anyone have any suggestions? I know you can
make folders private, but these are not, would that affect that anyway?

Also someone said that i have to put whatever log in names that are on one
comp on the other. I did that, still hasn't changed anything. HELP! I feel
like a friggin newb. I've set up networks with windows before (win98), what
the hell am i missing?

Both computers have to be in the same workgroup.

You need the same user and password on both computers to have access to
the folders.

I've check everything.

They are both in the same Workgroup and i already have both comps with
eachothers accounts on each, case sensitivite. Both accounts have no pass,
does that matter? The log-in names are what i copy to both right? Not the
comp names, for example, my computer name is thermal, but my log-in is
danbnotme.

The computer names should be different they are in the same workgroup,
the username and the password is what is important.
So try and set an account on computer 1 with the username danbnotme and
create a password of pass then go to the other and logon with danbnotme
as the username and pass as the password and see if that works.

Make sure they both have client for microsoft networks and tcp/ip and if
you have no DHCP give 1 computer an IP of 192.168.0.1 and the other
192.168.0.2 and SUBNET MASK: 255.255.255.0 for both, and if you still
have problems install NetBEUI and try again.

don't forget to add file and print sharing to access the folders and
printers on the other computer.

If you're running NT/2K/XP Pro, I'm pretty sure you have to use actual
passwords, yes. And obviously, the password for a named account on one system
has to match its counterpart on the other system.

I have setup folders to share already. Comp names are different, and i setup
accounts on on both accounts:

CompA: username: danbnotme
password: (no password)
username: default
password: (no password)

CompB username: danbnotme
password: (no password)
username: default
password: (no password)

case sensitive. but are you saying there has to be passwords on the
accounts? In the mean time im going to put passwords on both comps, the same
of course. Also i shall see about NETBEUI. On another not, how do you make
it so a certain account log's in on startup? I had to find a program to do
this for me about 2 days ago, it might have been tweakuiXP.

WinXP connect drives by default via Guest account without domainr, so check
this account enabled, also in local security policy remothe guest from
rule - "Deny access from network"

You can use shares by another way - connect you network folders via "map
network drive" feature using different user name, write here you account.

Maybe exist some way to change default credentials for network shares by
regedit but I never used this method.

Local policies changes implementing from 1min to 2 hours

Sorry bad english, I'am from russia.
