WindowsXP machine cannot be pinged

I am running and ethernet 100mg network with static IP
addresses. I have an XP laptop that can Ping servers and
workstations but i cannot ping that laptop from the server
or workstations. WHY??? I have sharing on and all proper
DNS, tcp/ip and WINS settings in properly. This machine
runs great on network and gets all its drive mappings and
works fine. I have a program that needs to see this laptop
using IP addressing fron the server and it cant.
 
any firewall software installed? are the pc's all on the
same subnet (i know, dumb question) and have the
appropriate netmask?
