WindowsXP keeps rebooting.....PLSE HELP

Hello Everyone,

I am a mami of 6 & have all my pictures in my pc for my last 4 children. And
no, I didn't back them up - I know I should have known better. But I hope u
can see 6 kids I didn't find the time *Sad, Embarrassed Smile*.

Well, lets see this is the situation. First, "knows just enough to be
dangerous" partner added a driver to my pc to see if "something" worked and
claims he uninstalled it, then within that same week my brother used my pc on
the internet w/out scanning my pc when it prompted him too!....I found all
this out after the computer started acting very strange. Slow, Freezing, &
Restarting...

So I did a scan, saw a strange file scanned by Virus Software & I saw a file
C:\FauxVirus\Carny_Ride.exe (the scanner would do an incomplete scan during a
full scan, the computer kept restarting itself) So I did only a quick scan &
would complete, that is when I found the abve file. But it went unrecognized
as a threat. My computer kept restarting. So, I thought it was the abv Virus
so I did a internet seach & found this...

C:/Fauxvirus/carny_ride.exe... what on earth is that? - Yahoo! Answers

I followed the instructions used the Super AntiSpywae scanner in Safe Mode,
it found a some adware & a virus they were removed. I restarted in Normal
WinXP mode it was fine until I was doing the last step "Turn Off" System
Restore, Restart & Turn back on.

As I turned OFF System Restore the PC was doing its thing & GuEsS WhAt??!!
The PC Restarted itself in Middle - I had no luck in starting in safe mode,
normal mode, or last good known configuration. So now I am left with the blue
screen:

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

I cannot log into windows at all or get to prompt.

Can Anyone Please, Please help me. I really don't want to loose all my
pictures of my kids, I hve no back up & that is all I have. Thank you

advance.

I think you realize you need to start the machine to do anything. It sounds
like the only way to do that is an XP setup CD, or boot floppys.

Obtaining Windows XP Setup Boot Floppy Disks (Q310994):

Even installing to a new folder (say 'Win2' instead of 'Windows') would let
you 'take ownership' of your old files.

There are other options, like running setup, and letting it try a repair of
the old system, if it offers that.
With the boot floppies or setup CD you might try the Recovery Console
prompt, to run the command:
CHKDSK /R

If someone can burn a BartPE image to a CD for you, you can boot to it,
copy all needed files to another hard drive (Install one temporarily.),
then reinstall Windows. Then copy the files back to the original drive,
or keep the other as a backup. That's assuming you borrow a hard drive
rather than buy one.
