I am looking to customize my explorer XP view to make it
similar to the Windows 2000 Webview. I especially want
the feature where it will show comments of MS Office
documents in the left hand pane(usually in a yellow text
box).

I have tried replacing the XP .htt file with a 2K .htt
file to no avail. I have been able to get rid of the XP
common tasks, but I cannot see Office document comments.

Any thoughts on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Scott Howell

You have to deselect "Lock the Taskbar" first, and then you will get the
View option that lets you change the icon sizes.

Hi,

Thanks for your quick reply, but i'm not interested in
the taskbar and start menu. I am trying to customize
windows explorer. I want to get rid of the common tasks
pane and replace it with the file/folder information pane
that windows 2000 uses.

The most important feature is that when you select an MS
Office document it will show details from the summary
tab.

Thanks,

Scott Howell

Wow - that's weird. That was supposed to be replying to another message?
Obviously that reply was entirely irrelevant.

The task pane is the only option. You can expand the details section to get
file/folder details similar to what you had before, but that's the best that
you can do. There might be a third party explorer bar addin out there...?

Well, using folder.htt, and desktop.ini I can get certain
folders to do almost everything I need. It's just that
Office document summary that is giving me problems. In
Win2k, when an office document is selected, the summary
information (such as comments) is displayed in a yellow
box in the left pane.

The XP common taks view doesn't display any information
in detail like that. So I was able to alter the view
using the files i've listed above, but still can't get
that office information. I think it may have something to
do with the script in folder.htt.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
