I have a lot of programs and other information on my hard drive that I cannot
easily duplicate, therefore when Windows 7 is available, I would just like to
install it over WindowsXP. Will that be possible?

No.. For XP users, Windows 7 is a 'clean' install..

Sorry, but no.

At the risk of sounding sententious: have you got it backed up in one form
or another *anyway*?

I guess it will be a long, long time before I migrate to Windows 7. It will
have to come on the next computer I purchase I'm thinking. I'd imagine it
will be the same for many others so a potentially slow start given the
long-term nature of our current recession. XP is darn bullet proof, there is
no compelling reason to change.
