There's a warning on MS download site that says:

Please note: This build may not have the same level of support or servicing
via Windows Update, and you may not be able to upgrade to the final version
of Windows Vista.

Does this mean that WindowsUpdate will not work well on build 5738 and only
you will get updates for 5600?

Regards,
Angel.

I am in the process of trying to figure out why I was getting Blue Screens
after an install of 5728. I believe it will either be the SATA drive I was
installing it on, or perhaps one of the Windows updates. I would suggest
you wait for a few days before you do any updating, or at least try to keep
track of what your are updating.

It may be understood in that way, yes.

Also notice how they explicitly state how the install should be done on
Toshiba TabletPCs.

Which indirectly implies that the 5728 build might be primarily directed at
those machines
to test TPC functionality, and not to be taken as a general update to the RC
program.

I believe I have found my modem was causing a problem with 5278, which it
did not do in 5600. I would suggest, that if you show a device not
installed in 5278 that you do them one at a time and then reboot to see if
any problems exist. It you get a BSOD, then boot in Safe Mode and remove
the device you just installed.

Microsoft usually does not provide Windows Update's for Interim Build's
(with the Exception of Device Driver's).

Yes, that is what it means. You will get device driver and Windows Defender
updates via WU but any other patches would have to be downloaded and
manually installed. Those are uncommon but we have seen a few in TechBeta.
Whether they would also be made available to CPP is unknown. They might be
in the case of a serious vulnerability that affected Vista as well as XP.

It is working perfectly on my desktop, bld 5728 64-bit. Got new updates,
same as RC1.

The Windows Update Warning means that there will be a Very Limited Number of
Windows Update's Released (mostly Windows Defender and Device Driver
Update's). There will most likely be No Windows Vista Security or Critical
Updates Released for Build 5728, unless a Virus or some other form of
Computer Security Outbreak Occurs, Just FYI.

Yes, I forgot to mention the fact that you will need to Clean Install RTM
(Upgrades from Build 5728 to RTM are not Supported).

I want my RTM...
