WindowsME & 1.5 gig memory?

I have been running a dual boot between WinXP & WinME for some time now.
I recently upgraded the system memory to 1.5 gig.

Now when I try to boot to ME I get this blue screen error message:

"Windows protection error: you need to restart your computer: System
Halted."

I can only boot to WinME in 'Safe Mode'.

Windows XP runs fine.

Is there a WinME work around for this?
