Hi, can anyone please tell me how to get info about Windows 7 ? In the past
I used to get
Beta copies of Vista, and would certainly like to share in that option
again, with 7

regards

Piet

Windows 7 is still pre-beta. When the public beta is available I'm sure you
will see plenty of news. If you want to try for the pre-beta trials, you
can sign up on Windows Connect and you will be screened for qualifications.

The Beta 1 release will not happen until Q1 2009. The only build currently
legally released was build 6801 that was distributed to attendees of the US
Microsoft Professional Developers Conference 2008. This build will not be
made available legally to anyone else.

Actually Windows 7 is production at the SP2 level. Look familiar. You must
complete this survey in order to participate in the Windows 7 SP2 Beta. :-)

Actually Mike that build was also given to a select set of MVP's in
certain technologies as well.

Rick,

I was aware of the MVP distribution as well as the certain other dev partner
distributions too, but I confined my comment to the publically accessible
sources as discussion beyond that would be of no real relevance to a member
of the general public interested in gaining pre-release access to the
product

Nonsense.

Windows 7 is still currently pre-beta (presently between M3 and M4).
Windows Vista SP2 is currently in testing, but the 2 test programs are not
related.

Hi Mike,

I mentioned it because with that particular build those given the bits were
told they were free to blog about and discuss it publicly. I'm not aware of
any that have yet, but there is no restriction on it.

What is your source, Rick. Everywhere I have seen anything it is NDA.

It won't be there until it is available for a given profile. Generally you
will receive an e-mail invitation first.
