I have my fax modem connected to my PBX that does not
supply a standard dial tone. I have unchecked the box in
the modem properties that says to check for dial tone.
The fax server seems to be ignoring that setting. How do
I make the FAX software included with Windows 2003 SBS
not check for dial tone?

Thanks,
Gilbert T. Gutierrez, Jr.

I think fax by definition requires checking for dial tone as per the T.30
Standard. There is one standard Phase A error indicating this.

From
http://www.symbian.com/developer/te...ference/cpp/FaxClient/FaxClientConstants.html
KFaxErrNoDialTone
const TInt KFaxErrNoDialTone

Description
Phase A error. The modem responds with NO DIAL TONE when asked to send a
fax.

Possible action: Either treat as NO CARRIER or, if the message occurs
repeatedly with known good fax numbers, rewrite the modem initialization
string - after checking in the manual.

If you are pretty sure faxing is possible even when there is no dial tone,
reply back with what makes you think so (any place where you read this etc),
and I'll follow-up further and get back to you.
