Go to the Start Menu, check the startup folder for shortcuts to the
application. If you find on, delete the shortcut.

If you see no such shortcut, go to Start, type msconfig in the run box,
press enter, go to the start up tab, remove the check from that specific
application and click apply and ok.

On each program you don't want to start automatically, check its
Options to see if it has the choice not to start. Many can easily
and best be stopped that way. If that doesn't work, run MSCONFIG
from the Start | Run line, and on the Startup tab, uncheck the
programs you don't want to start automatically.
