I loaded windows xp , had windows xp already installed
but on the comp when bought with other unwanted software
on it. when i rebooted my comp with xp it did not
overwrite the old but now it gives me an option of which
windows to go into , i dont want the old windows how do i
delete it

To get rid of the boot menu at startup:

1. Boot into windows XP.
2. The next step involves the editing of the boot.ini file, so you may want
to back it up first before proceeding.
3. Open boot.ini and delete the reference to your old Windows OS in the
[operating systems]
4. If you no longer need a copy of your old installation on your computer.
you can now safely delete all files and folders within your old installation
directory.

better option... reinstall again.. but this time...
reformat the drive.

If you just want to remove the OS selection screen

Start > Control Panel> System> Advanced> Startup and Recovery. In the "Display list of Operating Systems" Change to a value of "0" seconds. I think the default setting is 30
