You have a driver that is incompatible with XP.
It might be one you loaded, or it could have been in one
of those helpful Updates from MS (because 12,000 drivers
is NOT enough).
Assuming you can estimate a date when things were nomal,
System Restore can get rid of this annoying problem.
System restore is a reversible, repeatable process in
which your program files are configured as-of a date you
choose.
Your settings and data files do not change. After the
restore, you may have to load applications that were not
on your system as of the "Restore To" date.
