Xp without sp on my desktop. Loaded xp cd with sp2 on it. Now the programs
and files doesnt work? When you start it it gives 2 options....Start with
"windows xp prof" or "windows xp prof".....found that the first one is sp2
and the second is the old one. How do i get the stuff to work on the new
one?,and delete the old one?

Since you seem to be at the very beginning of what I assume to have been an
attempt at a clean installation of Windows XP and all of your programs (you
have backups - right?) - you should just start over and follow directions
that will ensure you no longer have any of the old stuff around.

What did you expect? installing a new version of winxp will give you a dual
boot
If you merely wanted to update the sp all you had to do was run MS Update
