windows xp

It can run on 64MB, but not very well:

• PC with 300 megahertz (MHz) or higher processor clock speed recommended; 233-MHz minimum required;* Intel Pentium/Celeron family, AMD K6/Athlon/Duron family, or compatible processor recommended

• 128 megabytes (MB) of RAM or higher recommended (64 MB minimum supported; may limit performance and some features)

• 1.5 gigabyte (GB) of available hard disk space.*

• Super VGA (800 × 600) or higher resolution video adapter and monitor

• CD-ROM or DVD drive

• Keyboard and Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device

When I first got hold of XP I ran it on a PC with 128MB RAM and it worked fine.

When I installed XP it on a PC with 64MB RAM, it took FOREVER to boot up.

Funny thing was I remember everyone I spoke to at the time kept saying you need 256MB minimum, tbh that's what I was thinking the link feckit posted would say, but no, it tells the truth :)

Isn't that Vista? ;)

I still know people who the only reason they cannot get Vista is they stubbornly refuse to upgrade to 512MB. Microsoft should probably let people find out for themselves how well or not it would work under less RAM in their particular systems...

Try windows xp on a 800hmz pc with 128mb ram and it was slow abit.

The thing with vista is 1gb ram needed for the home edition and don,t you need a good video card for the aero effects.

My local Library are still using windows xp.

Alot more people would buy it if the spec to run it where down.

it,s a big jump from 64mb ram to 1gb ram.

So you can see why alot more people are using xp.
