I'm running an IBM ThinkCenter for several yrs now which came w/ XP factory
installed. I try to make a practice of running Disk Cleanup at least once a
wk. Anytime the total megs exceeds 10, I run it. I don't know if it's merely
dumb luck but I have had no problems w/ the machine or the software. When I
occasionally chk in on Defrag, I get a mssg I don't need to. I just had W-98
die on my older IBM Aptiva, & now I can't do diddley. the rescue disk gets me
as far as a 'safe mode' in all 4 corners of the screen & nothing else. I may
continue to try to rescue it because it was running good until I started
loading a driver for the new Samsung flat screen monitor I was given as a
gift. The previous m. was an NEC which was running fine, not that old. $400,
& the recycler wants $7 to take it off my hands. I guess the moral to the
story which I shoulda learnt by now is if it ain't broke, don't even think
about fixing it.
