I am running two computers networked and connected by
broadband modem. One is the server..Both run Win 98. I
have a laptop running win xp. I can set up the network to
copy files etc..I cannot however access the network to use
the internet. I have tried most settings I can find but
with no luck...I am no expert with win xp..I can disable
the firewall but as soon as I do all goes wrong.....It
just wont work. Unless maybe the laptop is trying to
assume that its boss and should be the server. Yhe only
other thing i can think of. Ive tried the help sections
all over the place..Still no luck at all.
HELP :-)
If you could it would be very appriciated cause my kids
driving me crazy over this and dad aint as hot as he
thinks.
Thanks..Good Luck J.D.

Please reply to this message in the news group (not by E-mail) with
more information to help other people understand the problem.

Describe exactly how the network is wired: what the broadband modem
connects to, what each computer connects to, etc.

Does the broadband modem also have a built-in routing capability to
give access to multiple computers?

How many IP addresses do you get from your broadband service provider?

How have you configured one of the computers as the server? Is it
running an Internet sharing program?
