Is there a freeware program I can download that will help me manage all
the processes that are running in the background..I just got this thing
and I dont know what I can stop and what I should leave running

Click Start,,Run,, and type "services.msc"

When the Services applet launches, you can stop or start services.

To get a good idea of which services are useful and which are a possible
exploit or just so much fluff, go to BlackViper's web site at:

Scroll down a page or 2 and you will find a large table of services.

I'm not sure exactly what you're after..... if you right-click on the
taskbar you will see Task Manager on the pop-up menu. Highlight Task Manager
and click. You can see all your running processes and shut down any you
wish. However, be careful not to shut down something essential to Windows!
